Almoners and Benevolence Associationsfreemasons charity

Bay of Plenty District has two active Masonic Almoners` and Benevolence Associations.

Almoning & Benevolence

“To relieve the distressed, to visit the sick, to care for the aged, to comfort the bereaved is a duty incumbent upon all men, but particularly Freemasons who are linked together by a bond of brotherhood.”

Benevolence and Almoner Contacts

Brethren, it is important that any Lodge Brother or Widow in distress or need of assistance be advised to your Lodge Almoner.

A list of contacts will be made available shortly, as part of the consolidation of the district information. In the meantime - contact your Lodge's Secretary, if you're unaware of your Almoner.

Please see the 'Hospital Admissions' article, to the right, for contacts in regard to this.

Keeping Young Mariners Afloat

Rotorua Freemasons play their part

Freemasons Magazine

With the support of Lodges, Side Orders and The Freemasons Charity, a Young Mariner's Group in Rotorua is now the proud owner of four fibreglass Optimus sailing dinghies, replacing the previous old heavy wooden boats, well past their use-by date. The boats, and the accompanying trailer used to transport them, now proudly bear acknowledgements to Freemasons New Zealand.

August 2012 Geyserland District Almoner's Association Meeting Report

Brief resume of Minutes of Meeting of 3rd August 2012

Discussion held regarding donation from Lodges. It was moved/seconded and passed that Lodges be asked to donate $100.00 to the Association as has been traditional in the past.

Individual Lodges need to be aware of the needs of their members, especially those wishing to resign for health and financial reasons. Supplying either Food or Petrol Vouchers to help free up other finances is a useful tool for both members and widows.

If you are aware of a widow or member in Hospital please advise your Almoner. They cannot visit or help if they are not kept informed.

We had a most informative guest speaker from BUPA. Almoners will be supplied with Care Packs which will help when health care decisions need to be made.

Geyserland Almoners will visit the Bay of Plenty for their next Meeting on 7th September.

Next Meeting 2nd November 2012
